Drunk

Perhaps an act of rebellion, to defy whats right
to go against the hard facts of life
to release, to unwind, to lay off all your burdens

then you enter a stage of nirvana
where you ease your senses, forget your woes
the courage to speak to your mind, bounded by no restrictions
to unleash all your inner, pent up frustrations

but good times never last..
soon you regain your senses
one by one, the problems resurface themselves
strangles you ever harder.. on that original bruised spot you thought might have recovered just a while ago.

chao geng

Definition:
A common Army slang used when referring someone whom attempts to escape work/duty by putting up a fake front to fool others. AKA.. Malingering

Let me cite u an example which happened today:

Zhi Hong (yes Wong, thats him) was arrowed along with 4-5 others to help me out in the removal of old furnitures from an office so as to facilitate its renovation. As such, 4 of us were lugging this supersized, heavyweight table to the condemned stall- in an awkward manner due to the table's proportions.

Along the way, felt my side's gettin heavier, and the shag look on everyone's faces..thats when I noticed ZH's posture and unorthodox method of carrying..

Me: "Eh Zhihong, u let go of ur hands"

And he did without hesitation
...
..
.

Immediately someone exclaimed.. "Eh ! No difference leh ~~~ "

*Laughters all around*
..though deep down I felt like kickin him

the service industry

Whats the point of putting up 4 million smiles and upgrading of our service sectors when the sales frontline himself lacks even the most basic EQ to begin with..

I was at queuing up for a McDonald's Lemon lime last weekend when this happened .. A young man (presumably the father) and a boy just purchased a happy meal and was taking his time choosing one from the assortment of toys. And there was the kids-friendly guy at the cashier - squatting down, smiling - waiting for the boy to make his decision.

Its perfectly fine, commendable in fact to show such patience and courtesy. But NOT when there's a whole lot of others in the queue waiting to be served. He could have urged the adult to hasten the decision or simple attend to the next customer while the boy takes his time

When it finally comes my turn , I asked for a "Large lemon lime"

"Sorry but there's only small and medium" - then stares at me, seemingly awaiting what I'd say next.

Then just give me the Medium dammit !
Must I emphasize on the correct option from ur MCQ choices of 2 ??

***

Second scenario - Starbucks :

"Large Ice latte"

"That would be Grande" , then shows me the empty cup..
"Would that be ok for you, Sir? "

5 / 5 stars.
You see the difference for yourself, no further explanation required.

***

You may say I'm paying for what I get.. a starbucks coffee costs 2-3 times more. Not true..

Scenario 3 - Food Court :

"I don't want chili"

".. then tomato sauce ok ?" - politely suggesting a replacemnt for the chili sauce else the noodles will taste blend.

Simple gestures and a bit of intellect will suffice.. no need for fake smilies and thank-yous to make your customer feel appreciated.

Power of 3

Whist checking out the movies and shortlisting a few that I'd like to catch over the next week or so (else I'd be rotting home for the next 2 days), the chosen few are .. Scoop, The Black Dahlia , The Prestige and Death Note.

Of the selected 4, I noticed the 3 had a common actor - Scarlett Johansson

She's quite "The Bomb" at the moment, having caught her earlier appearances in Lost in Translation and The Island, both of which left quite an impression in me. But, but whats this about.. 3 concurrent movies graced with her presence in our cinemas ?

Someone pls check on our MDA, just to be sure the guys r doing their job - cutting the most exciting scenes, censoring foul languages and pissing over local film producers, and not mass wanking over some R21s in their studio.

Ecclesiastes

I switch on my office monitor and was immediately greeted by this quote..
Perhaps its a reminder from up there, about time I wake up my idea. Heh

**

For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.

Haze

I won't attempt to keep myself tight lipped about this issue anymore. Fact is, the condition in our weather is worsening due these forest fires in Sumatra. I took a morning run earlier and was almost chocked. Its like running with a cigarette in ur mouth (minus the smoking highs)

While it may seem that the condition's in control, now that these asean ministers are holding a meeting on ways to tackle the problem.. little or nothing will change if their government itself won't bother to roll up his sleeves, instead choosing to be engulfed by corruption and bribery.

You say we never showed any appreciation for your "vast contribution to region's oxygen" for these greeneries you have contributed. Sadly speaking.. tts the only few things that contribute to ur nation's GDP - Farming. Besides, you never thanked us for not prohibiting our people from visiting Batam despite all the drug and child prostitution scandals.

The people's mentality is also screwed. I remembered reading an article interviewing a farmer - who had started a fire made little remorse of their act, and in turn shifts the blame to the winds that blew these ash and dust particles to the neighboring countries. Go ahead.. blame mother nature.

If another tsunami washes up your family members, will you blame the earthquake .. or the authorities for not providing adequate measures to predict these disasters..?

dance

Pls don't ask me to do the salsa
Hell.. I can't even picture myself doing syncronised actions

Made another rare visit to the gym today, and there I was standing outside the studio glass panels checking out the class (and students of course..) It was merely a session of body combat and I was smirking already. Its not gay.. its just looked hilarious.

But I'll try it someday.. maybe attend some beginner's aerobic or yoga class or whatever.. sooner or later at least.

linger

....some days in life just suck.

Iv bitched enough to some kind listeners. But tt ain't the whole story..

Like how I couldn't sleep after the S4 had questioned my integrity. I didn't really bother to argue back, cos Im too physically and emotionally exhausted. But his words kept creeping up in the head after, and kept thinkin of how I would fight for my stand if I have been in the position to do so.

I can't sleep cos the mind's too caught up, too active for my own good. Some days Id wish I could just get lost. Go for a holiday.. Distance myself from everything and anything thats been weighing me down..

Rojak

Sunday Times headlined a topic speculating a increasing number of Singaporean men choosing foreign brides over locals. To a certain extent, the title may look a tad disturbing labeling "foreign brides as HOT and local brides are NOT"..

Fact of the matter is, a large proportion of these men who'd prefer "Demure" brides (the ones who stay home, cook, serve, abide by the husband's rules) are pretty much losers to begin with. He is either intellectually deficient and/or aesthetically disgusting, lags behind the society in terms of monetary and social status, and is unable to follow up to the local women's growing needs. A local partner would probably be more capable and this hurts his ego. Thus, he resorts to seek out foreign maids..I mean, wifes from third world countries with minimal maintenance.

Quote from a foreign wife needs from ST :
"Care for me, don't bully me, and don't go out to look for other women"

On the contrary, the other probable reason for Rojak marriage is due to globalization. The garment is luring in foreigners and locals are migrating to seek a different life. Publications and medias have greatly exposed and influenced us a great deal in terms of foreign cultures and lifestyles. As a result, SGeans, like most developed countries, have a greater choice and knowledge as to who they want as the ideal marriage partner.

And why not ? The only problem I could think of.. for now at least, is the Cultural difference- the way he/she is brought up and exposure to different lifestyles, is likely to result in different views and opinions towards their relationship. Lotsa compromise may be required for both parties..

Back to the topic..I believe IMHO, the partner you ultimately marry is not merely one who fulfills your needs; But someone whom u choose to spend the rest of your life with.
