The Propaganda Times

In the near future, your child goes to school and takes home a "C" grade in his test. Despite all your previous efforts to instill the importance of education to him, he still spends majority of his time playing DoTa .. Will you :

1. Enforce a tougher measure to improve his results ..?
or
2. Convince yourself that there's still many kids out there who's secured worse grades or even did without school education. So you should be satisfied with what your child has done.

Well it seems our local papers have taken the latter (desperate) approach, since announcements of the hike in GST (Gahment Suckers' Tax) were delivered to the masses. Its must have been a hat trick of decisions made with regards to the rise of living standards in SG. First it was the public transport cost, then the utilities bills, and finally this .. the 3 big letters that concerns us ALL, rich or poor alike; an irony how the purpose of the rise in GST was meant to "narrow the income gap". The problem lies in differenciating the "needs" from the "wants". The Needs - basic food supplies, water / gas utilities, education reserves NO reason to be taxed.

Back to the topic, it seems a the best method to control a masses on their displeasures is via the media.. newspapers in particular. In a short span of 5 pages, 2 of such propagandas were raised :
1) Give you a personal account of how the rich were taxed as much as 60% in other countries (..so quit bitching cos your 20% is nothing compared to them, and neither so is the 7% GST)

2) Give you an insight or how more developed countries like Japan, London had much busier and worse public transportation (..so quit bitching and blame yourselves on your lack of social etiquettes of not cramming yourself, it is not authorities fault)

Moral of the story: Read in between the lines
