Just another day in camp

Wake up, rushed to camp in my bike.

8km run, followed by another grandfather story by my CSM ..

Apparently he wasn't too happy seeing soldiers walking outside of camp instead of jogging, for his rationale states that walking outside of camp tarnishes the image of our unit, and ultimately affecting that of the SAF.

True to a certain extend ; perhaps the civilians may see these people as unfit and stereotyping the Army as a "slack" place.

But does IMAGE alone justify the reason for confining these unfit personnel to run within camp boundaries ?

Does these commanders know how sian and demoralizing it is to go 6 rounds around camp, where others get to enjoy the morning breeze and scenery outside of camp ?

Why won't the civilians see these walking parties as people who'r putting an effort but just couldn't complete the entire jogging distance ? No society is perfect without flaws.

The aim of these run is to encourage a healthy lifestyle. Will confining these fellas to run in camp encourage them to get fitter or instead, create a backfire ?

An update on the 3 recce fellas posted to DB after having a word with their commander.

The BOS(brigade orderly sgt) was on his last duty that night before posting out to 2 SIR. He went to check on every guard personnel and wrote a letter of complaint directly to the HQ commanders (big fucks in short).

If he had practiced the chain of command and go through my csm or their oc, the case can be easily covered. Throw a few extras to the offenders at the most. Now that they're in Db, chances of studying in uni is in jeopardy.

This set me thinkin..

Would you prefer to die as an ordinary person whom few people knew, or die as Adolf Hitler ?
